    The Significance of the Insignificant

    Minja Revonkorpi

My art rises from the little happenings and notes in everyday life. Even quite insignificant things can give me the idea for my artwork; a sentence, a picture, a color, etc. Painting is my major technique, but I use other techniques too—it gives me freedom and brings variation to the content of the works.

In my works, I make private experiences into collective experiences. With these weather-related paintings, I am revealing people’s chance to influence their own thoughts and the way they see the world around them. It’s like the difference between positive and negative thinking.
