like to think of my paintings as elements of a developing "theory."
When I start making a picture my mind does what it does naturally and
puzzles out the shapes, colors, relationships and meanings. A
hierarchical better/worse scenario develops and I find myself in a
frenzy of likes, dislikes, loyalties and innovation… this process
expands and refines incrementally until the painting can yield itself
as a "proof" to the overall theory.
