Since the 1990’S, plastic arts in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries, in general and in Bahrain, in particular, have witnessed noticeable specific improvement and steady development in terms of quality production, and in terms of individual and group exhibitions. Perhaps the most obvious development is the intense contribution of innovative works on the part of women.

Among such women is Nabeela Al-Khayir. who underwent a trying experience from reluctance to entering into the wide, deep world of arts to the positive participation in local, regional and Arab exhibitions. The pleasant harmony and impression emanating from the special characteristics of the subject scene and epoch of the beautiful portraits of Nabeela AI-Khayir, frequently communicated in warm colours, lay open the nature of the kind, feminine, deeply hidden sensations. The option of the non-disjointed and, occasionally, superimposed parts of the body, the emergence of faces and the folds of dresses attract attention and make one selfishly confine his/her thoughts within the frames of Nabeela’s expressive portraits, hoping that the portraits will reveal their secrets to him/her first, before to anybody else!
