Jean S. Godfrin (ARGADOL) is a French contemporary artist and advertising graphic designer who is fascinated by images, photography, design and art in general. Godfrin is also influenced by Pop Art, Action Painting, and Street Art movements. My favorite subjects are famous personalities, Rock and Folk music, journeys, and objects. I like things that are very eclectic but globally very popular: that means for me that Art does not have to belong to an intellectual and financial elite. I owe the best pictorial definition of my style to one of my Facebook fans: “the ascendancy of the red and the black in your works brings me back to a primary vision of Art: a blood Art prisoner of its troubles.” My way of working is atypical: mental images and initial sketches come from numerous sources, the planning and realization of a piece, superimposing of layers, and, finally, traditional realization with collages, acrylic paint, stencils, sprays, coulures, jets of paint. I also leave a big part to spontaneity and improvisation during the realization of the work, so that I inject my humor and energy of the moment.
