International Top NewsMcCartney Organizing Late-wife’s Photography Exhibition

McCartney is organizing the first major U.K. exhibition of photographs by his late wife Linda, 10 years after her death from breast cancer, the BBC reports. The fromer Beatle worked with his daughter Mary, also a photographer, to put together the show of photos from the 1960s to 1998, opening April 24 at London’s James Hyman Gallery. "The photographs not only illustrate her incredible talent as an artist," said McCartney, "but as someone who was very much connected to the culture of the times." Los Angeles County Museum of Art trustee Jane Nathanson and her
husband, communication and investment mogul Marc Nathanson, will have a ground-floor gallery at the Broad Contemporary Art Museum named after them in return for a $10 million donation, earmarked for contemporary art programs and acquisitions, the Los Angeles Times reports. Although museums adding donors’ names to art galleries is nothing new, it might be unexpected at BCAM, which is so strongly identified with collector Eli Broad, who paid for the $56 million structure and a $10 million fund for the acquisition of artworks and lent 220 pieces for the inaugural exhibition, opening Feb. 1.
