    McCartney Organizing Late-wife’s Photography Exhibition

    Paul
McCartney is organizing the first major U.K. exhibition of photographs
by his late wife Linda, 10 years after her death from breast cancer,
the BBC reports. The fromer Beatle worked with his daughter Mary, also
a photographer, to put together the show of photos from the 1960s to
1998, opening April 24 at London’s James Hyman Gallery. "The
photographs not only illustrate her incredible talent as an artist,"
said McCartney, "but as someone who was very much connected to the
culture of the times." (Artinfo, January 16, 2008)

    Broad Museum Renamed

Los Angeles County Museum of Art trustee Jane Nathanson and her
husband, communication and investment mogul Marc Nathanson, will have a
ground-floor gallery at the Broad Contemporary Art Museum named after
them in return for a $10 million donation, earmarked for contemporary
art programs and acquisitions, the Los Angeles Times reports. Although
museums adding donors’ names to art galleries is nothing new, it might
be unexpected at BCAM, which is so strongly identified with collector
Eli Broad, who paid for the $56 million structure and a $10 million
fund for the acquisition of artworks and lent 220 pieces for the
inaugural exhibition, opening Feb. 1. (Artinfo, January 16, 2008)
