Aesthetic distance between subject and work is the theme that best describes my work. Working this way allows me to make spontaneous decisions that are simple and direct. My aim is to prevent a title or subject matter in my consciousness from controlling my project. I do not want my work to be pre-conceived. I try not to over analyze my work but allow simple abstract thoughts to communicate my subject through brushstrokes, colors, and rhythms. I respond to the image as it develops, and allow the elements that relate to my subject to continue the progress of the work.
