The scale of my work is Life-size or over life-size. I get inspired by the sitter’s personality, emotion, experience and spirit. I try to capture and bring out the details of the figure but still try to keep the integrity of the mass. When I work from a model, it usually takes 4months to a year to complete the work. When I sculpt clay I also try to think about keeping the texture and feeling of the composition of the clay, and not destroy its heavyness and earthy feeling. I try to make a sculpture that is a synthesis of both the artist and sitter’s emotions, embodied in the clay.
