Vera Tataro is living in her birhtplace Prague, Czech Republic. Her artistic practice is based on combinations and permutations of color, which underline the very themes in her the paintings. Vera achieves a vision of specificity and inevitability in her canvases. Although her practice remains a constant, each of her paintings has its own unique fundamental logic. In addition to their engagement with formal questions, Vera’s paintings tend to involve themselves in narratives of ambiguity, where the final word about the work’s content is left in the hands (which is to say, eyes) of the spectator. In the artist’s opinion, the success of a painting is commensurate with the degree of participation it exacts from the viewer. The world of her paintings is simultaneously disorienting and inviting. Each painting bears her lustrous style; however, the mood conveyed in each is strikingly its own. Her work makes it clear that it is still possible to establish a relevant, compelling, personal poetics of visual expression in a traditional medium.
