The process of working with wood is playful and ironic at the same time. It is in direct conflict with the deeds of modern society and the incalculable amounts of information with which we have been so ceaselessly inundated, that we tend to move away from nature. A spot, a knob, or even a deep cut on the wood, this marks the opening of a new project. The material itself determines the symbols that will grow out of it. By burning it, carving it, and painting it, the primary medium takes on a new texture and identity. Everyday objects, childish figures, routes and ladders, are all connected. An intensive process allows the primary material to create unexpected parameters. Nevertheless, it retains its original status.
