The body has always attracted my attention. Our body has never belonged to ourselves less than it does today. Long ago, the body was extremely personal. When one’s heart or lung became diseased, the only thing we could do was to wait and see the person weaken and perish. Today, as every body part can be replaced and rebuilt, the nature of the body has changed tremendously; it now has a connection with the whole manufacturing system of the society. The body is no longer my own but belongs to the society. This change influences people’s thinking process as a result. |

When I eat with my mouth, I’d say it is delicious! When I am touched by someone’s hands, I’d say it feels good! If I see with my eyes a person is killing a chicken, it breaks my heart. This is how thoughts occur. As thoughts occur, so do questions. The more complicated the thought is, the more questions will appear. And the solution is just as the saying goes, “It is better for the doer to undo what he has done.” We can only go back to the body, explaining thoughts through basic body parts like blood, skin, and veins, and solving problems using sense of touch, pain, and taste.
If you want to understand how thoughts occur and how to solve problems, you should cut open the skin and examine. This is how body art comes into being. Like a scalpel, body art strives to solve common problems shared by human beings while solving personal problems.
