I have been engaged in contemporary art for over ten years, working with a variety of media and different experimental approaches, ranging from performance, installation, photography, video, and painting. Generally, I start from the objectivity of the body and the falseness of identity, carrying on research on issues of authenticity that are related to the multiple links between human’s situation in reality and the cultural perspective. My early works involved taking the subject experience of the body as the experience of performance. Then gradually I turned to live performance, where I was able to combine everyday behavior and dramatic plots to reveal and express the influence of modernity on humans’ alienation.

My current practices rely on emotional instinct rather than experience. Through boundless historical imagination and the sub-narrative reality, I search for the fragments of the evolution of things around, the dramatic effects of happenings, and the timely appearance of physical phenomena, in an attempt to understand human history, practical politics, the game of the social system, the cultural consumption, and the complexity and ambiguity of life and humanity. In this way I try to achieve a representation of the reappearance of people and things. In short, I try to see through Chinese tradition, to express the complex mentality of contemporary Chinese intellectuals when they are faced with the reality of internationalization and cultural patterns of the future. I try to reveal new customs constructed by a new kind of human relationship and their beauty, which I create, from my perspective, as a pure and simple individual experience.
