The Heart Is Transparent – Li Tianyuan

Is the sky transparent? Or is the glass transparent? The heart is transparent.
The heart resembles the sky; it also resembles the glass. Because of the heart, air can then produce numerous kinds of colors. Glass is the mirror of the sky, while the sky reflects the heart. The glass thus is full of life and colors.
Water is colorless and still, but it creates the richest colors and the most variable movements. When you look upon the brilliant sunset on the water’s surface, can you recognize that light can transform into such enchanting colors because of the water? Water is the origin of all life. Over 70% of both the earth and the human body contain water. It has the appearance of tranquility, transparency and mildness; and yet it also has a wild strength capable of destroying all things along with the character of unrestrained freedom.
Glass is an invention of man, who wants to imitate water. Glass comes from sand. Through high heat, it becomes transparent so that light may pass through freely. To other substances, it is like a wall, which cannot let things pass through. Glass is also composed of compressed air. Within itself, there are traces of water, traces of time, dust, germs and traces of human beings. It accepts the reflection of all kinds. Glass is like our heart—affectionate but vulnerable.
