Slingsby work offers perspectives on how universal forces react with one nother in various escapes: the natural and the artificial, matter and ether, light and darkness. |
The work purveys how tension, chaos and destruction arise and exist in tandem with order, balance and creation. Her work also explores these universal forces as allegories of the human condition and human experience: the struggle between the ego and the spirit, the subjugation and emancipation of self, and the commixing of fear and love. As a formalist, Tanya Slingsby engages color, surface and spatial elements through a meditative subtraction and addition of layers. She uses a variety of media including marble dust, acrylic polymer resins, acrylics, wax and oil pigments.
