Stratis and Beva

Stratis and Beva are a
photography team based in Paris. They work with digital photography,
traditional painting and illustration. Both coming from a fine art
background, they crossed over into fashion in 2002. Always connected to
their fine art past, they have exhibited fashion work in well known
galleries in Athens, London and New York. After their spontaneous
marriage they both decided to drop everything and travel around the
world, from Russia to Hawaii, and from Morocco to Brazil.

Their travels proved to be a very eye opening period for the couple, one that inspired them to merge their individual photography into one.  It was a natural progression for them to join forces on all levels.  Stratis’ static and still life inspired background, blends beautifully with Beva’s freedom and freshness which brought a lot of spontaneity in the final product and is a big part of what their work reflects today; a very controlled and immaculate attention to detail, but with a relaxed point of view that makes their subjects appear comfortable. They like to work both in studio, and on location.  Studio is for them, a chance to be all about the clothes, make-up, hair, posing and team spirit, which is exciting and challenging in itself.   Where as location is when they get an excuse to continue their never-ending emotional and visual inspiration.  Stratis and Beva mix elements of fashion and a cinematic approach into their conceptual creations, especially visible in their location work in which there is always a “story” behind the image.

The most visually exciting for them is the combination between architecture and mid 20^th century industrial design.  Some of their favorite locations are: the Los Angeles area, with its surreal landscapes, and dessert, and in poor areas of the world like, Brazil and the North African countries, especially Morocco, where the passion and sincerity felt from the people that they meet filled them with inspiration.  The blend of these elements with the commercial aspect of the industry, in which they work, brings out a magnificent balance of almost unnatural attention to details, a hint of darkness and an overall comfort, which defines their style and is their trademark. Their interests include among other things, gastronomy that (cooking and traveling to food destinations around the world!), fine wine (they own 2 small red wine vineyards in the Piedmont region of Italy), soccer (both played soccer before), scuba diving (advanced certified deep sea divers) and single engine planes.
