INAUGURAL SHOW OF SHERRICK & PAUL GALLERY TO INCLUDE RARE, LARGE FORMAT WILLIAM EGGLESTON PRINT
SHOW INCLUDES WORK FROM MARCEL DZAMA, NICK GOSS, KATY GRANNAN, VIVIAN MAIER, BARRY MCGEE, HIROSHI SUGIMOTO, WENDY WHITE AND OTHERS
Nashville, October 30— Sherrick & Paul, the first permanent gallery from rising art world talent Susan Sherrick, will open its inaugural show November 14 in Nashville’s up-and-coming, vibrant and creatively diverse Wedgewood Houston neighborhood. The gallery will show works from Marcel Dzama, Nick Goss, Katy Granna, Vivian Maier, Barry McGee, Hiroshi Sugimoto, Wendy White, William Eggleston and others. Work from Eggleston includes a rare, large format print, made available to the gallery by the Eggleston Artistic Trust, alongside five previously unseen smaller works.
The large-format print is one of an edition of two at a size of 44” by 60”. Eggleston introduced his work in this format in 2012 by producing 36 prints for auction to benefit the trust, further enhancing his following among contemporary art collectors and breaking his previous auction records. At the time of the auction, Joshua Holdeman, then the international director of Christie’s photography, told PDN, “A huge amount of investigation and research was done into trying to figure out a way to print his images in this larger scale that would allow for the same kind of color saturation as well as clarity [that was achieved with the dye-transfer process].”
“I’m very excited about our artist programing,” Sherrick says of the show. “Several of the artists we will show have never been shown in Nashville or anywhere in the South. Sherrick & Paul is an addition to the growing gallery community, but we are also bringing something completely new that doesn’t exist here: an established and international roster of artists.” Presenting photography, paintings, drawings and other forms of fine art, Sherrick hopes to guide a new generation of collectors while at the same time curating exciting, forward-thinking shows.
Sherrick began her career at The Harvard Art Museums and gained experience from there working with celebrated galleries in New York City including positions at David Zwirner and Marian Goodman. As a director of sales at Fraenkel Gallery in San Francisco and Howard Greenberg Gallery in New York City, she cultivated connections with artists and collectors. Additionally Sherrick worked as a private art advisor and host of pop up gallery shows including one featuring iconic photographers and emerging artist held in Nashville in 2013. Most recently Sherrick curated exhibits in New York City for Howard Greenberg Gallery as well as in Nashville for the Tinney Contemporary Gallery.
