I perceive and present objects and configurations of life as a composition, representing that which is liminal, usually on the threshold of a changing state. A moment of transformation is “stilled,” whether that stilled moment is material, bodily or psychological, there is always a reference to transient adjustment or morphosis. The “stilled” moments between states become absolute in their translation, creating an existence for a moment. The stilling reveals complexity, fragility, and detail in the moment in question. The work represents the sublime possibilities for there are infinite representations of the same moment in different minds, different visions. The work represents the sublime possibilities for there are infinite representations of the same moment in different minds, different visions. There is an underlying fascination with process, the path which a work takes in its creation, and the various paths which are taken beyond presentation in the minds of the viewer. The destination is always different.

I work with sculpture, imagery, and installation varying the use of materials. Notions of ceremony, complexity, and beauty appear in the work, weaving evocative and unsettling images to explore the world metaphysically. The work strives to defy literal translation.

Beauty and pathos produce dense and poetic images redolent of the fantastic and tinged with funerary grace. Characters appear, both animal and human, revolving in decorous ceremony and utter isolation, characters caught out of time. Spaces appear uncanny, removed from familiar context. The chosen materials that make up my work are always capable of transmogrification in themselves. There is obvious fragility in the use of certain materials, and a desire to capture the possibility for change.
