    Nuit Blanche

Scotiabank Nuit Blanche is Toronto’s annual all-night celebration of contemporary art, produced by the City of Toronto in collaboration with Toronto’s arts community. The eighth edition of Scotiabank Nuit Blanche will take place Saturday, October 5 from 6:51 p.m. until sunrise. This year’s lineup includes 112 art projects created by more than 500 local, national and international artists who will transform the streets of Toronto for a single night. Highlights at this year’s event are three curated exhibitions, including a centrepiece installation by world-renowned artist Ai Weiwei of China, curated by Ami Barak.

    Curators and curatorial themes:
    • Curator Ami Barak’s exhibition “Off to a flying start” is themed around the 100th anniversary of ready-made art now found in galleries and museums and brings these objects back to the streets.
    • Curator Patrick Macaulay’s exhibition “PARADE”, presents an unconventional parade where the audience becomes the procession.
    • Curators Ivan Jurakic and Crystal Mowry’s exhibition “Romancing the Anthropocene” acknowledges the triumph of science and human achievement but suggests a cautionary message regarding the destruction of natural habitat.
