Cep Art Gallery is staging an exhibition of Naddie Acar Karaca, a young representative of Contemporary Turkish Art, a solo exhibition entitled “Same As Original” at The Marmara Pera.

Nadide’s symmetrical compositions have matured at “Same As Original.” In this cultural universe, art is converted into simulations; ye we see meaningful mark making in a work such as “ Karalamalar.”

Looking at the formal apects of her works one can see the blots taking on form and expression. These are the spontaneous marks that come into existence by overlapping of two canvases. Each work of art, a whole of two pieces, consists of both balance and imbalance at the same time.

By juxtaposing her canvases, the same piece finds its charchtersitics by opposite expressions and compositions. Here, Nadide interrogates point of view and concepts of relativity.

These marks share a similar relationship to Rorschach tests. Catching the similarities between the blots and creating new figures might be perceived as artifice. But, using these formal tropes, Nadide creates a balance between chance and necessity.

NADIDE ACAR KARACA “Same As Orijinal” is on view from October 5 – November 5, 2011 at The Marmara Pera. Meşrutiyet Cad. Tepebaşı – Beyoğlu / ISTANBUL 34430
