As an artist, I am concerned with the various aspects of space as well
as with the different layers of perception and consciousness. I often
try to explore non-traditional ways of dealing with space and depth by
painting various layers of transparent imagery on top of an opaque,
first layer. My work usually contains figurative elements as well,
which reflect my enduring concern with the nature of  human existence
throughout the ages. Sometimes I like to introduce certain pictorial
elements within a given painting that seem to have little relevance to
the rest of the imagery in that painting. This is meant to reflect the
incongruity, the unpredictability, the mystery and even the absurdity,
all of which I see as a part of the fabric of life. I also often make
engraved lines that go through the textured surfaces of my paintings
right down to the canvas, or other ground layer.
