RitaGT, An Artistââ¬â¢s Statement, 2007. 21 x 29.7 cm, paper collage. Courtesy of the artist. The main reference point of her art is the concept and not the production of an object. GT also likes to cast an ironic glance at the art world.
Since the end of June RitaGT has been interested in the history of collecting and exhibiting practiced in scientific institutions like natural history museums.
She is more intrigued by how an event is translated than by the event itself.
She finds her themes in respectable art history and in the aggressive everyday life of the metropolis.
It is art looking like art. That is how art works–it only becomes art when someone looks at it and sees it as art.
Things are what they are according to where they are. Spaces work because they interrelate. Meanings are acquired through the interaction between work and site.
RitaGT’s priorities are process, thinking, action and creation; results are of minimum importance to her.
