    Inspired by ancient art and their textures which are imperfect and
    variegated, combined with his love of modernism which is polished and
    smooth, artist Richard Hoey combines simple form and textures through

    layering metal leaf, earth pigments, plaster, and
    waxes. Inspired by
    ancient art and their textures which are imperfect
    and variegated, combined with his love of modernism which is polished
    and smooth, artist Richard Hoey combines simple form and textures
    through his unique skill of layering metal leaf, earth pigments,
    plaster,  and waxes. Along with the carving of grooves and lines, these
    elements give his paintings and sculpture a very tactile element,
    appealing to the touch. Born In Cheshire, England 1968, Hoey lives and
    works in London. He has exhibited in London and extensively throughout
    the UK, and in 2007 in Chicago and Santa Fe in the US.  Hoey is
    participating in an exhibition at the Broadway Gallery in NYC, March
    1-15
