Galeria Ramis Barquet was established in 1987 in Monterrey, Mexico with the purpose of promoting the work of contemporary artists, mostly with an emphasis in Latin American art. Since then, the gallery has organized more that 120 one-person exhibitions, and consequently, the role of the gallery has become crucial in expanding markets for Latin American Art in the international scene. In 1996, the gallery extended its operations to New York City, opening a gallery space at the Fuller Building in the heart of midtown Manhattan. In New York, Galeria Ramis Barquet represents the work of mid-career and emerging artists from Latin America, as well as renowned European artists that have not received full exposure in the United States.

In September 2003, the gallery opened a second branch in New York in West Chelsea, at 24th Street. The program of this gallery includes emerging international artists working in diverse media such as painting, video, photography and installation.
