Peter MathiasI chose to specialize in surrealism because of the enjoyment and passion I feel for this genre’. Surrealism deals with images from our subconscious, the familiar and the unknown. That which is hidden, almost accessible, yet lying just beneath the surface. It is the interface between the seen and unseen, that I truly find exciting. The juxtaposition of objects within contexts that are real yet unreal. Impossible shapes and forms suspended above realistic landscapes. Volumetric displacement, and the deliberate use of accentuated scale, are tools where by I explore the relationship between the familiar and the surreal.
