This work began with a thought about languages as constellational systems, reflecting the shifting fields generated among any set of signs: one might play with these constellations, in the space before words. I began by working with eyedroppers – like Painting, they’re for putting things in your eyes.  The paint led the conversation, with chance and physics shaping process and outcome, evolving language from accident. My recent work involves stencils, drawn from photographed details of my spilled paint work, painted with brushes – one process translates another – a meta-take on a meta-linguistic exploration. This theoretical apparatus is foreplay – provoked, the work creates itself.
