Celebration is in the air as thousands of people of all ages, 5 to 95, flock to a Manhattan hotspot that one might not expect… an art school that has all of NYC talking. On September 22nd 2011, New York City’s The Art Studio NY, located on West 96th street between Columbus and Amsterdam on the Upper West Side, is expanding to a new 2000 square foot studio, which quadruples it in size. The move is a response to the steadily increasing demand of New Yorkers who want to reconnect with their creative side and freely express themselves through painting, drawing and mixed media. The Art Studio NY’s Founder Rebecca Schweiger, an internationally renowned artist, is a successful, creative entrepreneur on a mission: To provide the masses with a nurturing, inspiring and self-empowering experience of artistic self-expression where beginner and experienced students of all ages and levels alike can unwind, recharge, create, and celebrate their unique inner-creativity. Combined with word-of-mouth successes and accolades from sources such as NBC, The New York Times, and the internet’s new giant Living Social, who touted the studio “The Number 1 Art Classes in NYC”, The Art Studio NY has had to add dozens of additional classes as well as rent and renovate a new space, which the Founder calls a “Creative Urban Oasis”. After working with students, one by one, throughout Massachusetts, New York, Texas, California, Israel, Costa Rica, and Italy, Rebecca opened The Art Studio NY in Manhattan in 2003, in order to “further share the transformative qualities of self-expression and inspiring creativity through visual art.” Children, teens, and adult students are invited to explore self-expression and creativity through beginner, intermediate and advanced drawing classes, painting classes, and a full range of art workshops such as Drawing in Central Park, BYOB Painting Party, and other endless options for sparking one’s creative juices. The Art Studio NY’s inspiring, cutting edge art classes have been consistently voted the premier creative art class experience in Manhattan and have been featured on ABC, Japan’s #1 Fuji TV Network, and Modern Luxury Magazine. In 2009 Founder Rebecca Schweiger and The Art Studio NY were selected as artists-in-residence at Harlem Village Academy’s “Find Your Passion” program, a school that President Obama described as a model for the national education agenda and what Mayor Bloomberg called “the poster child for this country”.
