Mike Pare has shown extensively throughout the US and Europe with
recent exhibitions at ATM Gallery in New York City. His subjects range
from members of the love generation to tattooed youths lost in a
punk-rock frenzy. In his graphite drawings, which are often marked
with monotone psychedelic patterns, Pare displays a keen ability for
rendering both the individual and the crowd, best illustrated in his
Altamont series. Pare develops a unique commentary on fixed moments
taken from the American identity without burdening his work with
nostalgia or criticism.
