I think that from the very beginning of my painting I was interested in people, in all of them milling around. I liked looking into their faces, trying to read them like in the books I’ve always loved.
It’s just like one poet and journalist wrote about me and my work – I’m a painter of big canvases – a figuralist, who in today’s rushed world seeks for his audience moments of standstill and rest, dreaming away. A painter loving baroque mysticism, surrealism, a dream, a contemplation; giving the people in my paintings the roles of prophets in today’s world.
