My work is abstract, and I avoid any depiction of that which appears in
the real world because it would obstruct access to what propels me to
make a painting in the first place. Making a painting links me to the essential in myself and is my way of speaking to and with the
intellectual and emotional relationship I have with a source of
inspiration.  The truth of my life passes through the conduit of the
creative, and everything I know and feel is in my paintings. Within
the relationships of color, the contrast of light and dark, and of
painting edge to edge on the canvas there is found both harmony and
tension. This complex mirroring of the way it feels to be in
relationship to these basic human emotions, opens the possibility for
reflection and resolution at the moment of engagement with the work.
