A single, unified shape unfolds onto a white space. Patterns connect,
defining the form as colors communicate in harmonic chords.After
years of training in abstraction, which has given me a unique
compositional approach, in this series of still-life paintings,
entitled “Tapestries,” I explore the relationships of movement and
color in an unusual flattened perspective to create a unified form that
is inventive and meticulously composed, inspired by sources as wide
ranging as Japanese woodblock prints, and still-life compositions from
the Renaissance through Matisse and Cezanne.For me, as an artist, a still-life is never still.
