Tate Liverpool to Reconstruct Klimt’s "Beethoven Frieze"

    Gustav
Klimt’s monumental installation The Beethoven Frieze, a masterwork
painting 100 feet in length, will be reconstructed at the Tate
Liverpool in Britain’s first comprehensive exhibition dedicated to the
artist, reports Reuters. Klimt created the frieze, which celebrates the
unification of all the arts, for the Vienna Secession’s 14th
exhibition, in 1902. It was to be destroyed after the show, but a
patron of the Secession had it removed and stored, and the Austrian
government eventually acquired and restored it for exhibition in the
Secession building in Vienna. The Liverpool exhibition, set for May 30
to August 31, will examine Klimt’s role in the Secession movement. (Artinfo, March 4)
