Anyone who has seen dialogue emerge from the writing on a bathroom wall understands our ability to respond and react to language and its implications. We assimilate a huge amount of information daily—that information comes in many forms. Sound bites, song lyrics, advertisements, blogs, profiles, overheard conversations, the media, etc. This deluge of information serves as a template for what’s current, and what’s current defines where we are culturally. Painting images through language, I combine elements that reflect this cultural "persona" and illustrate the contradictions inherent in that definition.

This deluge of information serves as a template for what’s current, and what’s current defines where we are culturally. Painting images through language, I combine elements that reflect this cultural "persona" and illustrate the contradictions inherent in that definition. Seduced by the image and sucker-punched by the language, repulsed by the truth and calmed by the message, I’m more of a participant than an observer, I’m just adding another speech bubble to that bathroom wall.
