    Each of my encaustic and
acrylic paintings has a story and an origin.  I use my medium, along
with other materials, for personal expression and have found each
finished piece to represent my mood, captured at the time of creation.
The subject of each painting varies and can be fun, intellectual,
emotional, or very personal.  I may begin with a Xerox of a photograph
that sparks an idea or an emotion; or I may start with a blank canvas
and see where the medium takes me.

My background is in photography, a medium aiming to capture a split
second in time, and reflects my approach to the medium of paint.  I
approach both mediums with an open mind and only a vague idea of what
the finished piece may look like. I rely on my intuition and inner
thoughts and trust the medium will speak for me.  For the most part,
this approach has worked for me and continues to work with every new
    piece I create.

    Although
my background is not in painting, I consider myself to be a painter
above all else. This is the only medium that fulfills me on every level
and takes me to a place of innocence—the place where, for me, true
    creativity exists.
