I was born in 1973 in Örnsköldsvik, a town located in the northern region of Sweden. Because of my disengagement with school, I was educated as a welder, but began studying photography in 1999 when I attended a Swedish university in Gamleby, a school where I was matriculated for three years. Currently, I live and work in Stockholm.

My photography reflects my life and the humor with which I perceive it. It also reflects my most immediate of surroundings. I want my photographs to arrest the viewer enough for him or her to really look at the works and not just to flip the page, as most of us do when we look at magazines. Hopefully therefore, my photographs are not merely “nice” or “ordinary” like most commercial pictures.

While I am interested in gender roles and comedy within the context of art, I often think that simplicity is the key. I like to work as spontaneously and expressively as I possibly can since honesty is one of my most significant concerns.

What’s more, I’m straight, but do not have a problem with or believe that sexual relations between two individuals of the same sex are, by any means, unusual. Where I come from, many people happen to be particularly afraid or wary of homosexual men. Interestingly enough, it’s usually men who are afraid of these homosexual “Others.” Luckily, I can laugh at their narrowmindedness because I understand love and sex as phenomena spurred solely by sexual attraction, not societal standards.

In general, I find that most people’s views are similar on the topic of nudity. However, because I think naked bodies are extremely beautiful, I like to play with the idea and image of our bodily states in my photographic work.
