Working with ink and pen on paper, Katrina Pruss creates highly detailed, often ambiguous drawings that require intimate observation. On the look out for meaning and attracted to narrative structures, she explores themes of anxiety, the experience of “self,” and sexuality. With the aim of coaxing the viewer into close quarters with sometimes uncomfortable subject matter, her work is often dense with detail. She hopes that through this application the uncomfortable will become a place of exploration and discovery.
