    The
visual language of my work references contemporary issues while
addressing the possibilities of painting as a medium. I choose
iconographic images and shapes in response to information I gather from
media sources as well as direct experiences. I use a variety of
painterly gestures juxtaposed with hard-edged forms rendered in layers
of acrylic paint. My current paintings include three-dimensional
looking objects, painted in black and white, camouflaged within the
surrounding colors.  Cheerfully apocalyptic, the work is intended
to simultaneously attract and repel, blending beauty and toxicity, as
in the supersaturated colors of a smoggy sunset.
