I have always questioned the conventional and
linear unfolding of time and how past, present, and future are ways too
predictable and repetitive to convey experience. My work makes an
attempt to step away from tight restrictions of prevailing orders by
constantly changing the forms of captured pasts.Memories
have been a way for me to focus on the unshaped possibilities of the
future. When forgotten, they still continue to coexist in various
systems of storage that remain available for recall. I try to
demonstrate their nonlinearity in a process that I use as a foundation
for my work.I begin by removing the image
from old photographs and taking experience out of its assigned position
in time. The emulsion is placed between slides and projected to create
a timeless representation that becomes movement free from labels. A
condensed substance has now transformed to an expansion of itself. In
conjunction with the projections, video installations and sculptures
aid in constructing a domain that reveal my cogitative studies of
memory.
