The painting “Ariadne” is part of a series of works that are studies for a painting to the wedding of the Danish Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary. The motif is related to a work by the artist Tintoretto featuring Ariadne, Bacchus and Venus. With grants from the “Queen Ingrid Roman Foundation” Hans Tyrrestrup has developed his interest in ‘birds, Venus, wings and angels’, all elevating symbols of his art _ and art.
