Frere Independent is proud to announce its 8th edition of the PooL Art Fair New York at the famous landmark Gershwin Hotel.
The show is open to the public on March 4, 5 & 6, during The Armory Show Week. Continuing its unique tradition of supporting independent artists, the PooL Art Fair is comprised of both national and international artists, art collectives, curators, and selected galleries. PooL New York runs concurrently with the Armory Show, Scope New York, VOLTA NY!, and other vital contemporary art world events.
Inspired by Courbet’s famous “Salon des Independents,” the PooL Art Fair, “Salon des Artistes,” serves as a platform for emerging and independent artists to have a voice. PooL is the successor to the acclaimed New York Independent Art Fair (November 2000), a groundbreaking exhibition that attracted thousands of visitors.
The simple, modest approach of the PooL Art Fair offers an exciting alternative to the “art fair” experience for dealers and collectors, as well as the general public. Each artist, or group of artists, will use hotel guest rooms as exhibition spaces, creating many intimate settings for each visitor to engage in as they travel through out the fair. Hence, PooL will serve as an invaluable resource for the artistic community and the general public. The purpose of the PooL Art Fair is to provide the public with access to art, while encouraging them to support and meet these emerging artists. Frère Independent is a not-for-profit art organization that provides new avenues of exposing artist to a wide array of opportunities.
