Gazala’s works are described aptly by New York art critic John Austin, as “Gazala’s haunting universe”. An emerging artist, Gazala has shown her works solo, in New York, London, Bangalore and Bombay, India. She has participated in major art exhibitions at the Florence Biennale and London’s Form Olympia, and in group shows at the Santa Monica Art Festival and New Art Center New York. Gazala’s shows versatility in her works with her figurative, landscape and abstract paintings, and her restless mind and an equally restless imagination, probes and searches for the hidden connections between time, people, and the very stuff of existence. Gazala’s scenes significantly exemplify the different conceptual and associational levels the artist sets into motion through her mood at a given time. It is hardly surprising that these works seem genuinely authentic and hard-felt. Looking at the situational poses and movements one cannot but be held captive by the deeply felt tie that the artist evidently has with her subjects and subject matter. Gazala lives and works in New York City.
