My paintings are about time, movement, and change. The sea is highly symbolic and bring an awareness of the environmental debates surrounding melting polar ice caps and rising sea levels to my paintings. The Cornish people have good reason to both love the sea as a source of income, and fear the sea as a bringer of death. The sea to me is the instrument of God’s wrath, and will one day wipe this civilization from the face of the Earth. Nowadays I try to avoid being influenced by anything other than nature.
