    McKenzie Fine Art presents work by Don Voisine, best known for his hard-edged oil abstractions on wood panels. The compositions are muscular and elegant with rich surfaces, nuanced black tones varying from piece to piece. Working within a characteristically narrow structure of compositional elements, Voisine is able to squeeze an unbelievable amount of mileage out of such a restricted formal vocabulary. Voisine explores the relationship of surface and tableau through overlapping geometric the fields of black, situating high-gloss blacks which reflect local color with more dull luster passages alluding to deeper space.
