The convergence of art, architecture, and landscape-based research is the foundation of my work, while showing a very strong interest in popular culture and collective practices. I develop my work on the border of social documentation mainly through the use of photography. I address the ideas of landscape, romanticism, representation, collective memory, and authenticity of experience.
In my photos, I focus on landscape and the myth of primal nature (powerful and self-sufficient), as well as cityscapes, social structures and gatherings. To better understand our current social phenomena, I follow parades, political meetings, tourist itineraries, I visit amusement parks and national parks, in search for an “ideal“ landscape: I observe how our relation to landscape has turned into a spectacle.
Working with a diversity of media (photography, silkscreen printing, mixed media) and jumping in different range and subject matters, results in some panoramic story. It also stresses the process of image construction, and the discourse production.
Observing our behaviors, the way we respond to architecture, scenography, and urbanism, I question the way we relate to the public realm by emphasizing its staging. The event is always out of reach, and the different experiences move towards a collective viewpoint. I focus on how the space is organized and how we engage in collective practices. By referring to different iconographic imagery, I attempt to understand how it has shaped our visual world today.
