The current work has evolved from my long-term
interest in figure drawing and fascination with organic geometries
found in the natural and scientific world. Rather than attempting to
reduce the figure into its primary geometric components, I seek to
define and activate the spaces, volumes and vectors inferred from the
    figure’s pose.

    One result of these
investigations has been the realization of an affinity with my painting
style and particle track diagrams documenting subatomic particle
collisions. A series of non-representational paintings have used these
diagrams as compositional elements, which are transformed by the
introduction of depth and color. In this way, scientific phenomena take
on an aesthetic and spiritual dimension.

    The
medium is oil pastel on museum board. The pastel is first applied and
blended using turpentine. Additional layers are added and blended with
    the fingers.
