The Museum of Contemporary Indigenous Art just opened “Life and Death: Expressions of the Everyday Life according to the Worldview of the Contemporary Mexican Indigenous People” which leaves us in awes with the artistic work of 13 different Indigenous Mexican groups and one community of artisans “Mata Ortiz.” These works allow us an opportunity to see hard to some rarities; as MAIC presents an exhibit, which takes you through a journey to the northern, southern and central Mexico with a collection over 250 pieces of Indigenous’ Artwork.

In order to form this collection, the museum visited several cities, towns and Mexican communities, which allowed MAIC to select the artwork that takes part of the exhibit.

The exhibit will constantly increase its collection work until more than 60 Indigenous Mexican Groups are completed. The tour for this nomadic museum started in the City of Montreal, after that it kept its course through Boston, la Riviera Maya, New York, Washington and Austin.

Simultaneously MAIC will present and exhibit with different pieces of artwork from the same Ethnic Groups and the cultural group on Cajeme, Sonora in Mexico.

The show is multicultural in scope, and highlights the art of Indigenous peoples in a large forum.
