    By Clay Bodvin, from the Gridded-Room Series. A found, pre-composed interior – borrowed and appropriated from the historical museum-house culture and environment. Presented as the
    backdrop for a serial-pattern collage that

          • features everyday objects used as colour/pattern devices;

          • is reminiscent of the Serial Painting genre; and

          • references the tradition of still life painting.

    It has been said, variously, that art now functions less like  a self-contained, completed truth and more like an evolving experiment. Bearing this in mind, I have established a creative approach which re-assesses traditional notions of the painted surface by

          • exploiting the rendering capabilities of digital media;

          • emphasising the general over the particular and the archetypal

            over the actual; and

          • producing new narratives which result from the technological processes

            being used.
