Christian Curiel uses allegory and symbolism to comment on the human condition and current events and allow viewers to access, imagine, and re-invent childhood. Storytelling in his paintings works like memory functions—non-sequential and fragmented, constructed and revealing with time. Christian Curiel lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He is a graduate of the Yale School of Art in painting. His work has been exhibited in various solo and group exhibitions in galleries and museums in the United States and abroad. Major exhibitions include J’en reve at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris, France. He is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards and honors, including the Cintas Fellowship Prize.
