    Chris Mangum’s work can
best be characterized as a traditional painting method comfortably
merged with a modern aesthetic sensibility. He favors a wide range of
subject matters including urban scenes, landscapes, still-lifes and
figurative work, painted predominately with oil paint on canvas or on
woodpanel. His primary inspiration is the variety of everyday human
experience, particularly the way that internal emotions affect how
everyday life is perceived. This concept is what sets the stage for the
mixture of nostalgia, romanticism, and honest observation that come
together to form his original paintings.
