    Chris Carnel was a avid
participant of snowboarding and skateboarding before he decided to
photograph it. He started shooting in the mid-80’s and got his first
assignment with a magazine called ISM (International Snowboard
Magazine). This was in 1989 and the magazine folded  before the
assignment ran unfortunately. Snowboarding and skateboarding was the
primary focus as a photographer and in the early 90’s Carnel became a
senior photographer for Snowboarder Magazine as well as contributing to
magazines like Thrasher, a then new Transworld Snowboarding and Bikini.
In 1993 a magazine called Heckler came into the magazine world as a
free tabloid zine; "DIY" style. Carnel soon became a partner in Heckler
as it grew fast and soon became a worldly distributed magazine backed
by Transworld Media. This was happening up until the late 90’s as
traveled took photos and wrote feature stories. They released a book in
2001 ( very closed to 9-11 to be exact) called A Declaration of
Independents. He was onboard so to speak with Heckler almost until it’s
demise in 2003. Having shot all over the northern hemisphere in the
search for snow and cement transitions Chris continues to shoot his
    passions in those realms.
