This painting is about the last days of my father’s misunderstood struggle with Alzheimer’s. The Green Chair was his favorite place to sit when he was “aware.” It also represents the universal place in which victims of this terrible disease find themselves. It is their familiar place when they are capable of settling down to comfort and remembering … it was a long goodbye.
