Growing up on the west coast of Canada fostered my fascination with the ocean’s many moods and characteristics. Having been profoundly influenced by the Luminist school of painting in the late 19th century, characterized by the effects of light in nature while concealing visible brushstrokes—my current passion is to capture the interplay of sunlight, reflection and movement in my seascapes. To this end my work entails multiple layers of glazing to add depth, color and clarity with detailed attention to objects illuminated by the perpetually changing light of day.
